Birmingham City University - Video Production
We were invited by Birmingham City University (BCU) to film a pair of videos for them regarding two schemes they were keen to promote.
Firstly, we interviewed several students who had signed up to the university’s “Ambassadors” initiative.
Student ambassadors are asked to represent the university in visits to local schools and colleges, and provide impartial information to students perhaps uncertain about going to university.
This side of the scheme enhances the university’s engagement with their local education partners, and helps these partners meet the criteria of offering careers guidance and advice to their students.
The ambassadors are also asked to help out at the university itself – showing guests around the campus, helping academic staff, assisting at Open Days etc.
For this video, we interviewed a selection of students who had signed up to the scheme.
Based on our questions and their answers, we then created a Q + A style video which stressed the benefits of the initiative and encouraged other students to sign up to the project.
Secondly, we created a case study video for a university student who had gained entry into BCU after completing a business BTEC certificate at college.
Through the telling of her story, we were able to create a video which helped to promote BCU’s willingness to take on students who have completed BTEC courses rather than perhaps entering university via a more traditional route.
The video production took place in Birmingham in May, and was a huge success.
Both schemes have been created in order to increase the opportunities for aspirational young people to gain entry to university, so as graduates ourselves we were pleased to contribute videos which help to promote these two initiatives.
