Personalised Video Behind The Scenes

By Patrick Campbell

Here at Stone’s Throw Media we know that whilst the world by and large stays the same, certain things upon this wonderful planet do change.

There are a few obvious examples. The world of fashion is constantly evolving*, public transport is seeing incredible changes such as high-speed rail and trains actually arriving on time, and innovations in food, such as Marks and Spencer selling a “cauliflower steak”, are, unfortunately, happening.

More pertinently however, the world of video production is changing too, with a new form of video becoming more and more popular over the past year or so. Allow us to introduce you to the concept of ‘personalised video’!

“A personalised video? What the heck does that mean?”

In simple terms, a personalised video is one which contains details unique to a viewer – usually (but not always) their name.

So, for example, if your name is Engelbert Baggins, we’re very, very sorry. In all seriousness, if that is your name, a personalised video would feature a scene (or maybe several scenes) where a bespoke piece of text would appear which would reference your name e.g. a card with “Congratulations Engelbert” on it.

If you’re still confused, or just want to know more, we took the trouble to write a whole webpage on the topic, because we’re nice like that. You can find it right here.

Our first toe dip into the personalised video waters came with a project for the University of Wolverhampton – an ambitious “first person” effort complete with actors, extras, and filming at the University’s City Campus.

For more on the project itself, we took the trouble to write a whole webpage on that too! The link is here. Don’t say we never do anything for you.

We’ve created a quick “behind the scenes” video regarding the day of filming at the university.

Want to see the effort that goes into creating a “first person” video? Want to see some of the equipment we use during our shoots? Want to see our Ben in his shorts?

If the answer to any of those questions is “yes”, here’s our behind the scenes effort. Enjoy!
