Ahead of universities reopening for face-to-face teaching, video production company Stone’s Throw Media have filmed the safety measures being implemented by one of the UK’s leading student accommodation providers.
And to reassure undergraduates and their families in China, they have produced a version for Mandarin speakers so prospective residents living there can understand the steps being taken to counter the spread of infection.
Stone’s Throw Media have been out on location in Sheffield to show the safety preparations being introduced by Student Roost, a private accommodation provider with 20,000 beds across the UK.
The video, put together to promote Student Roost’s services for the autumn 2020 university intake, demonstrates the additional cleaning and health measures put in place to demonstrate how customer safety is prioritised since the pandemic.
With schools and universities reopening, young people are being urged to follow social distancing rules. The two-minute video, which is being shared by Student Roost as part of its latest promotional campaign, shows the steps being taken to protect customers and staff.
This includes pre-bookable check-in times, enhanced cleaning standards, deep cleansing in every bedroom, new safety measures in social spaces and the installation of hand sanitisers. To encourage social distancing, cardboard cutouts of celebrities including footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and singer Beyonce have been put in place in shared spaces.
A version of the video with Mandarin captions has been produced by Stone’s Throw, specifically to help explain the changes to audiences in China.
Stone’s Throw director Mike Chinn, who produced the video, said: “Our brief was to show the steps being taken in a light hearted but informative way. The health concerns are serious but we wanted to document all the work being done by Student Roost in a video which reassured residents and their families.
“Our approach is to make our videos as accessible to as many target audiences as possible so on the client’s behalf, we put together a version tailored to potential residents and their families in China with captions in the Mandarin language.”
From their headquarters in Birmingham, Student Roost provides 20,000 student accommodation beds in 20 different university towns and cities including Liverpool, Swansea, Belfast and Edinburgh.
Student Roost’s brand and campaign manager Raman Sarpal said: “Stone’s Throw have provided us with a video which shows all the steps being taken to help keep students and our team members safe.
