In the video above we have our Content Cutter, Phil, go through some of our top video production equipment picks for 2024, have a watch and let us know what you think!
Check out the video production equipment we recommend below!
K&F Magnetic Lens Caps – We bought a set of K&F magnetic lens caps for ALL of our lenses. We’ve found them way more reliable than the standard clip caps and because they’re magnetic you can easily whack one of K&F’s magnetic NDs on or off at any time
Sigma 24-70 – The Sigma has a great image and the autofocus performs exceptionally well, even at 2.8. Coming in at just under £1000 it’s not the cheapest lens in our arsenal, but compared to the £1500 of the original G Masters (or over 2k for the mark2s!) it’s great value.
Zoom H5 – This gives us 2 XLR inputs for our mics, a line out to monitor, and a pre-amplified feed into the camera. We were expecting to have to sync footage in post, but actually the channels recorded on the camera are almost indistinguishable from the raw files on the recorder.
SMALLRIG Cage – We’re from the land of cinema cameras, with our C300s having plenty of mounting points, and as we started using the A7s3 for more interviews we needed a good way of holding everything together. The smallrig cage does this perfectly, holding both the Zoom H5 and one of our Senheiser clip mics.
Ambitful A2 – Lastly, lighting is essential to a great looking interview, but lights can also be really heavy and require a direct source of power. We picked up these Ambitful A2 tube lights initially to be used as either practicals, or to add colour to a scene, but we’ve actually ended up incorporating them into our travel kit as you can comfortably fit two tubes into a DJI gimbal case.
