No matter how much we love our jobs – and I love my job a LOT (“Nice try Patrick but you’re still not getting that payrise” – Matt) – it’s always nice to step away from our desks once in a while and head into the great big wide world.
This was particularly the case for Matt, Mike, and Jamie back in March, as they made the short journey from Stone’s Throw HQ to the beautiful and historic town of Ironbridge in Shropshire.
As you can see in our video above, the guys attendance at the event was based around two aspects – firstly, to hear from a very special guest speaker, and secondly, to have our own presence there with a stand and a workshop hosted by Mike!
The guest speaker at the event was Bruce Daisley – the European Vice-President of Twitter and the host of the successful ‘Eat Sleep Work Repeat’ podcast.
The guys really enjoyed listening to Bruce and found his thoughts informative and engaging, although they were slightly disappointed by his refusal to tinker with Twitter’s algorithms so that we could get 5 million more followers at the touch of a button.
After listening to Bruce, the guys split up, with Matt and Jamie manning our stand (with the latter doing some live drawing) and Mike heading off to do one of his fantastic (if we may say so ourselves) workshops on how to film and edit video using free software on a phone.
We managed to get an exclusive interview with Matt after the event, where he said:
“It was really great to attend the ‘Get Digital’ event and we’d like to thank the Marches Growth Hub for inviting us along.
“It was fantastic to get the chance to meet so many interesting people there – thank you to those who attended Mike’s video training workshop and gave us nice feedback about it!”
