Stone’s Throw Media became “drones throw media” at Molineux for “The Launch” last week. We officially launched the new service of high-end aerial video & aerial photography (UK) in front of a packed crowd. The day included talk of how drones can help businesses, what the future may hold and a maiden flight around Wolverhampton Wanderer’s home turf.
Needless to say the groundsman had his concerns about us flying over the pitch but on a test flight those fears were laid to rest. We wouldn’t have flown over the beloved pitch unless we were 100% sure of safety.
On the day it was rather windy as we had the remnants of hurricane Gonzalo flying through Wolverhampton. Winds of around 30-40mph couldn’t stop our drone, which has now been fittingly named “Gonzalo”.
We gained some stunning clips from the air of Molineux, a couple of which you can see in the video above. The majority of the clips are going to be used by Wolverhampton Wanderers FC in the not too distant future, so keep your eyes peeled on their YouTube channel.
Our main sponsors for the day, Innovation 1st, were on hand with Google Glasses and expert consultants. They offer consultancy on ICT and Digital Media, Environmental/Carbon Management, Built Environment (Construction and Offsite Manufacturing), High Value Manufacturing and Medical and Health (including Leisure).
We also had some “baby drones” on hand for our guests to fly them. We had great fun hosting the event. Thanks to everyone involved and who attended.
