Aspire to Africa Charity Video

Well hello to you, and welcome back to our blog and our very first post of 2016.

As we write there’s a chill in the air and frost on the ground, and we’re having to don several layers as we wait for the heating to kick in.

As such, for this blog entry we’ve decided to go back to sunnier climes, and tell you all about a football tournament we entered last summer, and the charity video we created on the day.

Long term readers may recall that we’ve teamed up with the good people at Aspire Sports in the past, and that we’re huge fans of their work and the services they offer.

One of the initiatives that Aspire run is the ‘Aspire to Africa’ project, which they established in 2010.

As part of the project, the team at Aspire travel to Africa on an annual basis to work with schools on the continent, providing them with sports equipment and educational resources.

Its mission is to develop and educate schools and local communities in Africa through physical activity and sport.

For fundraising purposes, Aspire organised a football tournament held at Sutton Coldfield this past July, and asked us if we’d like to put a team together and take part.

Obviously we were never going to turn that invitation down, so we gathered together a kit (very kindly donated to us by the lovely people at Wolverhampton Wanderers FC – thank you!), roped in a few mates boasting varying levels of footballing competence, and set off on the road to show the world what real football looks like.

How did we get on? Well, you’ll have to watch our video below for the answer to that question, but there might just be a clue in our team name on the day of “Real Sosobad”…

In all seriousness, we had a fantastic day at the tournament, and were delighted to play a part in raising money for a great project.

Whilst we wish we could have performed better, we know that now we’ve “got our eye in” we’ll be much harder to defeat next time around…
