Wolverhampton Wanderers

Translated video

Some football clubs are more prestigious than others, as we discovered whilst creating a translated video for our local team.

Wolverhampton Wanderers FC – or ‘Wolves’ for short – are one of the most famous professional football teams in the United Kingdom, with an illustrious history of over 130 years behind them.

With 10 league titles and 4 FA Cup triumphs under their belts, they are also one of the most decorated teams in the land too – residing in fifth place in the all-time English League Table as of the end of the 2015/16 season.

This heritage and success brings with it worldwide appeal, as proved in 2016 when the club was taken over by the Shanghai-based Fosun International Group – an international conglomerate and investment company.

To mark this exciting time in their history, we were asked by Wolves FC to create an introductory video about the club, which would then become a translated video for a Chinese audience.

Our video – which you can see above – was entitled “Welcome to Wolverhampton Wanderers”, and provides a potted history of the club, taking into account aspects such as…

  • The club’s famous Molineux stadium
  • The club’s silverware haul
  • The club’s iconic players
  • The club’s emphasis on their academy and promoting youth players

…amongst others. These aspects were then complimented with images, animations, and rotoscopes to make our video as visually appealing as possible.

Once our effort was completed in English, we were then tasked with turning it into a translated video.

To do this, we created a version of the video with Chinese text, suitable for an overseas audience keen to understand more about the football club Fosun International had joined forces with.
