We were commissioned by Redrow Homes to produce a community video regarding the unveiling of a very special primary school structure!
Alongside being one of the largest house construction companies in the UK, Redrow Homes is also proud to be an organisation which give back to the local communities its housing developments are based in.
This community ethos was on display when a team of young people on one of the company’s graduate schemes travelled to Horsforth Newlaithes Primary School in Leeds to create Redrow’s entry for the ‘Honor Goodsite Big Build’ competition.
This competition – devised by the Considerate Constructors Scheme – offers Scheme-registered organisations the chance to reach out to community groups such as schools and youth clubs and help them design and build famous or fictional buildings from recyclable materials.
We were thrilled to be asked by the team at Redrow to capture on film the official unveiling of its entry at the school – a Viking-style longhouse!
As explained in our video above, the idea for the creation of the longhouse came about through the school’s Year 4 student’s studies into Viking history.
Our video begins with one of Redrow’s graduates – Edward Barton – explaining this, and how he and the rest of the team had been working with the students throughout the week on the structure.
We wanted to make sure that the community spirit involved in the project was clear for the viewer to see, and how everybody involved had placed an emphasis on recycling and re-using materials such as plastic milk bottles.
We like to think that both of these aspects comes across clearly in our video!
The conclusion of our video sees the longhouse’s official unveiling from the MP for Pudsey, Stuart Andrew, and an awful lot of enthusiasm from the school’s students!
Our thanks to Redrow for inviting us to capture this fantastic event on camera.
