"Topping Out" Event Video
Readers in the West Midlands area may already know that the University of Wolverhampton has invested over £250m in Wolverhampton and the Black Country over the past five years – investment which includes the new £18m business school located on their City campus.
The building is a six-storey facility created for the benefit of the University’s business studies students, and will be named after the University’s Chancellor, the Rt Hon Lord Paul of Marylebone PC.
Included in the new building will be an executive education suite, innovative teaching and learning spaces, an IT suite, consulting rooms and a central social space and café. Sounds pretty good to us!
To celebrate the building’s completion, the University invited us to their “topping out” ceremony, where the University’s Vice Chancellor joined the Mayor of Wolverhampton and members of the project team in laying the ceremonial top brick on the roof of the building.
Our work at the ceremony was twofold.
Firstly, we streamed the event live – including the ceremony on the roof – which was broadcast onto some screens for the benefits of the guests. To do this we used a 500m fibre optic cable so that our images were crystal clear even when streamed live.
Secondly, we used this footage, interspersed with a number of interviews we conducted, to create an event video of the day for the University.
As graduates of the University ourselves we’re always delighted to team up with them on projects, but this one felt particularly special – the building really is spectacular, and it is a fantastic example of the University’s ongoing investment into the region.
