Christmas Video

West Bromwich Albion

Ideal Boilers Christmas Lights

We joined forces with West Bromwich Albion FC – and its celebrated mascot – for a Christmas video with a difference!

At the beginning of the 2018/19 football season, West Brom hit the headlines for matters off the football pitch rather than on it, with the reveal of its new mascot.

Officially titled ‘Colin the Combi’, but known more commonly as ‘Boiler Man’, the mascot – the result of a sponsorship agreement between the club and the firm Ideal Boilers – caused a sensation online, with some supporters of the club even calling him a “national icon”.

Such has been the popularity of ‘Boiler Man’ that for the Christmas 2018 period, the club ran a competition for businesses based within the region to win the opportunity to receive a visit from the mascot himself.

When this competition was won by Initial Hygiene – a sub-division of Rentokil Initial – we travelled to its Birmingham base for a spot of filming unlike any we’d done before!

For this brief, our video production team were tasked with filming ‘Boiler Man’ during his visit to the company – including the all-important switching on of the company’s Christmas lights.

As you can see in our video above, ‘Boiler Man’ went down a storm with the team at Initial Hygiene – everybody there was clearly blown away by the great man’s presence(!) – and a fantastic time was had by all!

Our Christmas video was met with a positive reaction, with Laura Gabbidon, Head of Marketing at West Brom, stating that it was ‘very valuable’ for the continued relationship between the club and Ideal Boilers.
