Wolverhampton Wanderers Football ClubProject
How much influence can a football crowd have on the game in front of them, their team, and the opposition?
Our video – which you can see above – was part of a wider campaign by the club to attract more Wolves fans to their home ground, Molineux, to cheer on the boys in “old gold”.
For our effort we interviewed Professor Andy Lane, who is a Professor of Sports and Exercise Psychology, on camera, to get his thoughts on the matter.
The attitude of fans inside a stadium might not, at first glance, seem to be important regarding what’s happening on the pitch.
However, as Professor Lane notes in our video, home crowds really can have a part to play in their team’s fortunes.
When times get rocky on the pitch, it’s a huge boost for the players to have their fans behind them and full of encouragement.
In a similar vein, the vociferous nature of a crowd really can influence a referee and his assistants when it comes to their adjudicating – even if they claim it doesn’t!
Alongside the contribution from Professor Lane, our video includes shots we filmed from inside Molineux on a matchday.
These brief clips help to make the video more visually stimulating, as well as showing just how passionate the Wolves faithful can be!
We always enjoy working with Wolves, and this project was no exception.
