A whiteboard animation (which is sometimes referred to as a “drawn timelapse”, just so you’re aware!) is a video where a story is drawn on a whiteboard (or something that resembles a whiteboard) by an artist who is recording him/herself in the process.Get a quote!
Once completed this recording is then sped up, to allow the artwork to show the story in an incredibly visual and effective manner.
Here at Stone’s Throw Media, we love a good whiteboard animation, which is why we love creating them ourselves!
We believe that not only do they look fantastic, but that they are superb for presenting ideas or concepts – that can be tricky to understand – in a clear and visual way.
What you may not know about whiteboard animations, however, is that there are two ways to create them.
The first way is how we do it, and involves a real artist, a real piece of paper, and a real drawing!
The drawings we offer our clients are always bespoke, and are always based on prepared storyboards.
Once created, our animations can then be furnished with a professional voiceover, to make them really effective!
The second way involves something called whiteboard animation software.
This method involves a piece of computer software which generates the images, with the “artist’s hand” digitally included to give the impression it’s a drawing.
There’s nothing wrong with whiteboard animation software per se, but we think that if a company is offering a client a professional drawing, it should be exactly that – a professional, drawing.
Creating an effort with software can look a little low budget, and it will never be a truly original piece of work. That can reflect badly on a company – which nobody wants!
