Our Brief

The team at NHS Birmingham aimed to create a medical animation to enhance the uptake of the physical health checks for individuals living with severe mental illness across the Birmingham & Solihull Area.

Physical health checks are crucial because there is often a strong connection between mental and physical health. Comprehensive care involves addressing both aspects for better overall outcomes.

An essential aspect of this video is its inclusivity, which is why the animation has six different versions with six different subtitled languages. The languages are: English, Bangla, Polish, Punjabi, Urdu, Pahari.

We used a bright and colourful style to capture the viewer’s attention and ensured that the video conveyed a positive message through vibrant and positive graphics.

We aimed to ensure that individuals suffering from severe mental health concerns do not feel apprehensive about visiting a GP Health Centre. That’s why we worked diligently to maintain a light tone in the script, conveying that obtaining a health check is easy yet crucial.

It was interesting to learn about how much physical activity can benefit your mental well being. It’s also rewarding when I know my work will be viewed by non-English speaking communities and will help those that need it”
