We joined forces with a financial advisory company, two branches of a network of independent charities, and a pair of other organisations for an animation production all about the dangers of financial abuse!
Citizens Advice is a nationwide service which provides UK citizens with free, confidential information and advice on a variety of matters such as financial support, consumer rights, and legal undertakings.
The service – which was founded in 1939 – is a network of over 300 charities, making it the largest independent advice provider in the United Kingdom today.
On behalf of two branches of the network (Citizens Advice Shropshire and Citizens Advice Telford & Wrekin) we were approached by the financial advisory company Matrix Capital for an animation about financial abuse for a joint project the organisations were collaborating on.
Our brief for this project was to create an animation which detailed…
• What financial abuse is and the forms it can take
• How people can spot it happening
• What people can do about it
…all in an easy to understand tone and engaging manner.
To fulfil this brief, we created the five minute animation production you can watch above, where our two characters – Frankie (a Citizens Advice employee) and Fred (a volunteer working alongside Frankie) – take centre stage to guide the viewer through the different forms of financial abuse that exist and the “SCAMS” procedure which could stop them from happening.
Our animation was a lengthy one by our usual standards, but as you can see there was a lot of information to get across to the audience!
Alongside the two branches of the Citizens Advice network mentioned above, the team at Matrix Capital also worked with the Telford and Wrekin Safeguarding Adults Board and the Insurance Institute of Shropshire & Mid Wales on this project.
Our thanks to all of them for allowing us to be a part of this initiative designed to help keep people safe from financial abuse!
Our animation production was greeted with a positive response, with Robin Melley, founder of Matrix Capital, stating that:
“This production is being used by Citizens Advice in their work in combatting financial abuse and vulnerability…we would have no hesitation in recommending Stone’s Throw - they are talented, creative and highly professional in their approach."
Like our animation production for this project, and think an initiative your organisation is involved with could do with one of its own to convey information in an engaging manner?
If so, we know we can help!
