50th Anniversary Animated Ident
We teamed up with an academic institution for an ident animation celebrating a very special milestone in its history!
Based in the heart of the UK’s second city, University College Birmingham (UCB) is a specialist provider of vocational courses in both the Higher Education and Further Education sectors – notably in the areas of hospitality, culinary arts, hairdressing, and beauty.
In 1968 UCB was officially opened by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh as the ‘Birmingham College of Food and Domestic Arts’ – bringing courses spread over nine schools across the city together under one roof.
In 2018 therefore the institution was celebrating a golden anniversary – 50 years of providing education at its Summer Row campus.
To celebrate this milestone, the team at UCB turned to us for the creation of an ident animation!
Our animation (which you can watch above) is only a handful of seconds long – with this brevity being the main factor for its effectiveness on social media platforms.
We wanted our animation to celebrate UCB’s history whilst showing the institution’s forward-facing approach. This is why our effort was designed to ooze heritage and class yet also appear modern and fresh.
In addition, the subtle sparkling effects seen in our animation create a vibrant sense of celebration. This was a powerful but classy way to create a positive vibe around our animation – if we may say so ourselves!
Finally, we know that sometimes the background is every bit as important as the foreground.
That’s why we chose a confident dark blue background to contrast with the gold of the logo seen at the centre of the screen.
This helped our effort meet the requirements of a good social media video – short, impactful, eye-catching, and engaging right from the outset!
Our thanks to the team at UCB for working with us on this project, and our congratulations to them for their milestone!
