What is the shelf life of a corporate video?

I’ve got a big shiny corporate video, but how long before I need to change it?

What is the shelf life of the video?

Well, truthfully, there are a number of factors that can affect how long your video will last before it’s probably time for a change.

Luckily for you, we’re going to answer the question in great depth in this edition of the #STMBlog!

Truthfully, it’s a bit of a how long is a piece of string question.

Essentially, it can be as long as you want depending on how your business works.

Some businesses change their website every two years. Some businesses have a rebrand every five years.

So when you think about it, if you film the corporate video or make the video in a certain way you could possibly rebrand it by going back to the producers, or change it so it looks a bit different at the start and end.

As is the way of the world, people leave businesses from time to time, so if they’re in the corporate video, it could become dated pretty quickly.

The best way round this? Keeping all the raw footage, or if a company has made the video for you, make sure that they keep the raw footage so you can come back to it years later.

Enough waffling, what is the shelf life of a corporate video?

Fair point. On average, a corporate video should last you about two to three years.

If you really think about it and you keep the raw footage, you can actually make a video last longer, maybe through a couple of redesigns on your website, or a couple of rebrands for your business.

That can extend the shelf life of a corporate video, but who doesn’t like a bit of a refresh? Who’s to say you’re in a position to make a decision over the video change and you’re regretting your hairstyle choice of the time?
