It’s likely footage of you, your business, or your colleagues, so you have every right to it. Things we often see are organisations making in-house videos using their raw video files, or small clips for social media, which is great! Even if you want a reference point for future filming, or want to use the files elsewhere, they’re yours to keep.

HOW DO I GET MY RAW VIDEO FILES?

There are a couple of ways we can get your raw files to you, either physically or digitally.

The first method involves us using a physical hard drive. If you have one already, brilliant! If not, don’t worry, we can order one on your behalf. This is usually our preferred method when we have a lot of footage to send across and it’s probably easier for you rather than having to download all the files again at your end from a link.

Our second method is mostly for small amounts of files, either a couple of interviews and a small selection of cutaways. This involves uploading the footage to an online file sharing service, typically Google Drive. We can then send you a link to download the files to keep.
It’s really that easy, so if it’s something you were worrying about, you can put all of that to rest. Now not every video production supplier is the same, so approaches may vary – we are talking about how we handle it at Stone’s Throw Media. Our motto is that we don’t hold the footage as a hostage and you won’t be held to ransom to access it.
